What is IV Rank?

IV Rank compares current at-the-money implied volatility to its 52-week range. If TSLA's IV has ranged from 30% to 80% over the past year and is currently at 55%, the IV Rank is 50% — exactly in the middle.

IV Percentile is a more robust measure. It calculates the percentage of trading days in the past year where IV was lower than today. An IV percentile of 90% means today's IV is higher than 90% of the readings in the past year.

Low IV (0–30%)

Options are cheap relative to recent history. Consider buying premium — long straddles, long calls/puts.

Mid IV (30–70%)

Neutral zone. Directional trades or spreads with modest premium outlay tend to work best here.

High IV (70–100%)

Options are expensive. Consider selling premium — iron condors, credit spreads, strangles.

How to Use This Dashboard

Click any column header to sort. The IV %ile column shows a visual bar — red for expensive, green for cheap. The VRP column shows the volatility risk premium (ATM IV minus HV20). Positive VRP means the market is pricing in more volatility than is being realized — a premium you can harvest by selling options.
